RADCLIFFE Borough physio Ronnie Evans hopes experienced defender Rhys Day will be fit to return to the side for Saturday’s FA Trophy preliminary round clash at Clitheroe (3pm).

The 31-year-old centre-back limped off on his Boro debut against Northwich Victoria last week and has missed the last two matches with a calf problem.

But with 21 goals conceded in the last seven mathces, Evans hopes his experience can bolster the defence this weekend.

Evans said: “Hopefully Rhys will be back and we are also looking at adding a new right-back ahead of the Clitheroe game.

“Danny Lafferty did well on Tuesday against Ramsbottom (1-1) but Rhys’ experience is needed.”

Forward Brad Robinson netted his first goal for the club in Tuesday’s Stainton Park derby after also overcoming a recent knock and Evans hopes that will see him go on a scoring spree.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Sam Andrew has left Stainton Park just months after his summer arrival.
