RADCLIFFE Borough suffered successive Evo-Stik Division One North defeats in the space of three days to the top two in the league.

On Saturday they travelled to Warrington Town and had the worst possible start when they fell behind on four minutes, Carlos Meakin netting for the big-spending hosts.

Boro battled back into the game and frustrated a Warrington side that had been flying high since early in the campaign.

But seven minutes into the second half, they doubled their advantage when David Mannix beat Chris Cheetham in the Boro goal.

Things went from bad to worse heading into the last 10 minutes when Kevin Glendon’s side were forced to play out the game with just 10 men after Sam Grimshaw was forced off with an broken bone in his leg and all substitutes had been used.

The victory for Warrington sent them top above Curzon Ashton who were in FA Trophy action on Saturday.

But they had the chance to draw level on points again with their visit to Stainton Park on Monday.

It would be another tough encounter for Glendon’s side but they took a deserved lead when Brad Robinson struck on 23 minutes. Boro held out until just before half time but then two goals either side of the interval turned the game on its head. First, Matthew Warburton levelled for Curzon just a minute before the whistle and then Ryan Brooke made it 2-1 to the visitors on 52 minutes to seal victory.

Boro are now four points from safety at the bottom and host Padiham on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
