RADCLIFFE Borough were humbled 4-0 at Clitheroe on Saturday after a display boss Kevin Glendon labelled ‘forgetful’.

It was a fifth defeat in five Evo-Stik Division One North outings for Boro with an injury-hit squad struggling from the start at Shawbridge.

Glendon’s men had beaten the Blues just 11 days earlier in the Doodson Sport League Cup, a comprehensive 3-0 victory setting up Tuesday’s home second round tie against high-flying premier division outfit Skelmersdale United.

But it was a different story in last weekend’s league encounter.

Boro were slow out of the blocks and went behind on 22 minutes when Scott Bakkor scored from the spot after Danny Lafferty conceded a penalty.

Clitheroe doubled their advantage 10 minutes later through Sean Miller and took a 2-0 lead into half time.

Boro had chances through Matt Landregan and first-half substitute Jake Hibbs but were second-best for much of the game, relying on keeper Chris Cheetham to keep them in touch.

Boro did have a penalty claim turned down when Matt Landreghan looked to have been brought down.

But when Lloyd Dean made it 3-0 just eight minutes into the second period, the visitors were just playing for pride.

Bakkor netted his second and Clitheroe’s fourth on 63 minutes to seal the points and leave Borough inside the bottom two.

Glendon will hope for a big improvement on Saturday when league leaders Warrington Town are the visitors to Stainton Park (3pm).

Then, it is Skelmersdale’s turn on Tuesday in the League Cup (7.45pm).
