Radcliffe Borough climbed out of the bottom two in Evo-Stik Division One North after a convincing 4-0 win over fellow strugglers New Mills at Stainton Park on Saturday.

The hosts stormed into a 3-0 half time lead with goals from Chris Thompson, Danny White and Simon Carden. Bevan Burey completed the rout in the second period as Boro recorded their first win since December.

Boro opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Thompson after good build up play. Thompson picked up the ball outside the box before curling his shot into the top corner.

White netted Boro’s second goal midway through the half. The goal was similar to the first as Boro piled on the pressure and committed bodies forward. White picked up the ball outside the area after good work from his midfield sidekick Carden, and with the wind behind him hit a powerful strike which flew into the top corner.

Carden struck to make it 3-0 seven minutes before the break, hitting his shot well. It took a deflection and the visiting keeper was left stranded as the ball flew into the net.

In a quieter second half, Burey added the fourth goal with 13 minutes of the match remaining. He went on a solo run, cut inside on his right foot and hit a low powerful shot underneath the keeper.

Radcliffe Boro head to mid-table Cammell Laird on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
