Prescot Cables 3
Radcliffe Borough 0

RADCLIFFE Borough are still without an away win this season after returning home from Merseyside on Tuesday night following a miserable 3-0 defeat to Prescot Cables.

Their cause was not helped by playing almost an hour of the game with only 10 men. Boro started the game with two players making their debuts, Malachi Slaven and Sam Cook having signed form neighbours Ramsbottom United earlier in the week.

Boro were straight into the action with Dave Sherlock shooting wide of the target after only 30 seconds.

Chris Cheetham came to Boro’s rescue after 15 minutes to deny a certain goal. Five minutes later Sherlock put Bevan Burey through on goal but his shot was saved by Gibson.

On 23 minutes it was Gibson again denying Boro with an acrobatic save to tip Sherlock’s free kick over the bar. James Gardner almost opened the scoring for Prescot soon after but his shot hit the post. On the half hour Ryan Hibbert lost possession of the ball and fouled a Prescot player who was through on goal. Referee Mr Crushem showed Hibbert a red and awarded Prescot a penalty, which Doran made no mistake with to give Prescot a 1-0 lead.

Four minutes after the restart Burey, who never stopped running, chased a lost ball into the corner then crossed to find Howell. His shot went over the bar.

Debutant Sam Cook almost equalised after a Sherlock free kick was flicked on by Lafferty’s head to be met by Cook but his effort went over the bar. Prescot hit the post for the second time after a free kick.

Prescot increased their lead before the hour after Lafferty’s slip let in Gardner who put the ball into the back of the net after rounding Cheetham. Boro manager Paul McGuire then made three changes to try to change the game.

Sherlock was replaced by Elliot Rokka. Cook was replaced by Chris Mason and fellow debutant Slaven was replaced by Richard Smith.

Prescot put the game beyond the Boro with four minutes left after Callam Gardner hammered the ball past Cheetham.
