RADCLIFFE Borough climbed up to 17th place in Division One with home draws against high-flying Brighouse Town and mid-table Bamber Bridge this week.

Boro, who are now unbeaten in four league matches, played some excellent football against Bridge on Tuesday night, applying the pressure straight from the kick-off.

Tom Hulme created an early chance for Steve Foster, who was unlucky not to give Boro the lead, and Sam McMahon also headed over the bar.

Boro keeper Chris Cheetham made a fine save as the visitors began to get to grips with the game and they took the lead through Sam Joel after a quick counter-attack on 19 minutes.

At the other end, an effort from Boro’s Foster was saved at point-blank range by the Bamber Bridge keeper and the hosts were also denied a penalty when McMahon was brought down.

before half time.

Efforts from Matt Davies and Hulme enabled Boro to dictate the play early in the second period and they equalised after 67 minutes through McMahon.

Cheetham made a fingertip save to deny Bridge late on as Boro claimed a deserved point.

A late equaliser by Brighouse Town denied Boro victory at the Belvoir Stadium on Saturday. A McMahon penalty and a Hulme effort had given the home side a 2-0 lead after they took advantage of a Brig defender’s red card. However, when Boro defender Jamie Forbes was also dismissed, Brig pulled level through Daniel Facey and Sam Hewitt.
