RADCLIFFE Borough were unable to give manager Danny Johnson a parting gift of three points in his final game in charge as they ended their league campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Farsley Celtic.

The Boro boss officially stepped down on Saturday after guiding the Belvoir Stadium outfit to an 18th-placed finish in Evo-Stik First Division North.

They faced an uphill struggle to bow out with a win after being reduced to 10 men in the first half.

Farsley captain Robbie O’Brien had already put the home side in front when Nathan Valentine saw red after handling Adam Clayton’s goal-bound header on the line.

Boro keeper Chris Cheetham ensured his team-mate’s sacrifice was not in vain, making a fantastic save to palm away Aiden Savory’s penalty.

The Celts doubled their lead after half time when Walker curled the ball into the top corner.

Farsley then had a Savory goal disallowed for offside.

With time running out, Boro pulled a goal back through Elliott Rokka, who tucked the ball away past Jake Lofthouse.

But Johnson’s men were unable to complete the fightback.
