BERNARD Manning Jnr was honoured for his outstanding services to Radcliffe Borough at the club's end-of-season awards dinner.

Manning has recently been replaced as chairman by local businessman Paul Hilton following more than 20 years at Boro.

After starting out as a player, the former chief moved into the directors' box before taking the reins.

During his tenure he oversaw some proud moments, including promotions and cup runs.

Manning has also worked hard behind the scenes to lower the club's debt and keep it running as a going concern, and will continue to support new man Hilton, helping to keep the business side of things ticking over.

As well as Manning being presented with the first ever Bernard Manning Trophy, a new annual award set up in his honour, the club's fans, staff and management highlighted the good work done on the pitch this season.

Jamie Forbes scooped the manager's player of the year award, while captain Ric Smith was voted supporters' player of the year and goalkeeper Chris Cheetham was named young player of the year by the supporters.
