RADCLIFFE Borough manager Bill Prendergast has urged the local community to turn out in force and roar his side into the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The Taurus Park outfit entertain Evo-Stik Premier Division side Spennymoor Town on Saturday, kick off 3pm, and go into the game on the back of a four-match unbeaten run.

A thrilling display at Droylsden in the last round of the cup sparked that good run of form.

Elliott Rokka's last-ditch equaliser sealed a 4-4 draw before Boro came from behind again to win the replay 2-1.

They went on to claim the first point of their Evo-Stik First Division North campaign in a 1-1 draw at Prescot Cables on Saturday and got their first victory at home to Trafford on Monday.

Now Prendergast is eager for stay-away fans or Radcliffe residents who have not previously watched their local club to join their FA Cup adventure.

"I am looking forward to the Spennymoor game now and so are the lads," he said.

"They are looking forward to pitching their wits against a side in the division above us because that’s the test.

"Our lads want to give a good show considering we’re at home.

"To be honest, I don’t think there is any non-league club fitter than ours because we know we started pre-season before everyone else.

"So hopefully we’ll have a big gate and we can show the fans what we can do, which should be terrific.”

Rokka and captain Jack Hindle have been key to Boro's recent improvement, sharing 10 of their 12 goals in all competitions so far this campaign.

Hindle scored all three of their goals over the weekend, on target with the equaliser against Prescott and bagging a brace in their 2-0 win against Trafford.

But Boro were by no means at their fluent best on the Bank Holiday, relying more on defensive grit than attacking zeal to clinch that vital three points.

“We defended well and rode our luck a bit at times against Trafford but I think we came up against a very good side," said Prendergast.

"It was certainly not the best we have played so far this season, but we stuck to our plan and got the win.

"It’s still early days at the moment in the season and the players are still working on their shape.

"We didn’t play great attacking football but we did a professional job.

"And it’s pleasing for me to see that the things we have been working on in training, such as marking the back posts for corners, are paying off."
