RADCLIFFE Borough were knocked out of the Manchester Premier Cup by Hallmark Security League side West Didsbury and Chorlton on Tuesday night, losing 2-1 after going down by the same scoreline at Tadcaster Albion in the league on Saturday.

Abou Sonogo put Boro in front from the penalty spot in midweek, returning to the starting line-up after sitting out the last two matches.

But with many of the club's regular starting XI rested for the cup tie, they were unable to maintain their strong first-half display after the break.

Substitute Geogi Whyment quickly levelled for the visitors before Ben Steer scored the winner in the final minute as Boro pushed forward in pursuit of victory.

Despite the disappointment, assistant manager Joe Gibbons took plenty of encouragement from the performance.

"I don't think we came out in the second half but I thought there were a lot of positives," he said.

"I think everyone has a chance of making it into the team (against Clitheroe) on Saturday and that's what we told the lads before the game.

"Every game they go into they have to have the attitude that they are going to give their all.

"I thought we got some good performances tonight off some players and I will speak with the manager and we will decide where we go from here."

Boro gave themselves too much to do at Tadcaster after going into the break 2-0 followed a brace from Josh Greening.

Frank Van Gils pulled one back on 66 minutes with a wonderful curling shot, but Boro were unable to finish off a flurry of half chances to at least claim a point.
