RADCLIFFE Borough were twice denied by the woodwork as they suffered a frustrating 3-2 defeat at home to Tadcaster Albion on Saturday in Evo-Stik First Division North.

They went into the game following back-to-back victories and looked set to build on that run after in-form midfielder Timmy Raheem put them a goal up on the half hour.

But Boro were unable to meet manager Bill Prendergast's challenge of making it three wins in a row for the first time this season after conceding three quick-fire goals either side of half time.

Raul Correia did give them some hope of at least a point after reducing Tadcaster's advantage on 60 minutes, but the woodwork ensured the Taurus Park outfit would finish the game empty handed.

Raheem broke the deadlock on 30 minutes with an audacious 35-yard shot that found the net via a wicked defelction.

Efforts from Elliot Rokka and Correia followed shortly afterwards, but Boro were unable to double their slim advantage.

And Tom Allen made them pay in the 38th minute with a powerful run and finish.

Any hopes that Boro would come out all guns blazing for the second half quickly fizzled out as Tadcaster wrestled control of the game with two goals in three minutes.

Josh Greening slotted home their second on 47 minutes after getting on the end of a neat through-ball, and Tom Corners made it 3-1 a minute later looping in a header at the back post.

To be fair to Boro, their heads never dropped and Correia gave them a fighting chance with a shot on the turn that whistled in from inside the box.

Three minutes later Rokka clipped the outside of the post with a thunderous shot and, after Greening and Corner missed chances to seal the win for Tadcaster, Raheem smashed a close-range effort against the post.

Defeat saw Boro drop to 17th in the table ahead of Monday's visit of Ramsbottom United.
