RADCLIFFE Borough looked set to celebrate the new year with a notable scalp at Trafford before conceding two goals in five second-half minutes to fall to a 2-1 defeat.
Elliot Rokka had put Bill Prendergast’s men in front with a superb angled lob almost from the right touchline in the 67th minute.
But they could only hold on to their lead for six minutes before Ashley Woods levelled for the home side and Boro skipper Lassana Naltache then put through his own net on 78 minutes to compound their misery.
Boro had been looking to make it back-to-back wins over the festive period after a morale-boosting victory at home to Ramsbottom United on Boxing Day.
They were unable to build on that performance last Thursday night when their scheduled fixture at Mossley was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Gaining anything at Trafford was always going to be a difficult task, and that’s how it proved as the Shawe View men moved up to third place in the Evo-Stik First Division North table with the single-goal victory.
Defeat saw Boro fall two places in the table to 16th.
