RADCLIFFE Borough conceded two goals in the final 20 minutes at Mossley on Tuesday night as they fell to a second narrow defeat in the space of a week.

The results extended Boro's current run to three straight defeats and manager Bill Prendergast ultimately paid for it with his job.

Lewis Reilly had given Boro a 10th-minute lead at Mossley with his first goal for the club.

Prendergast’s men kept that advantage until midway through the second half, when Andrew Watson pulled the home side level.

And it got worse for the Taurus Park outfit in the closing stages as Jordon Bowe scored the winner for Mossley with three minutes remaining.

Mossley moved up to 19th in Evo-Stik First Division North, level on points with Boro but one place below them on goal difference. It was another bitter pill to swallow for the Radcliffe players, who lost 1-0 at home to play-off hopefuls Clitheroe on Saturday in a match that saw both sides miss a penalty.

Boro stopper Ciaran O’Loughlan saved well, low to his right, to deny Jacques Kphomouh from the spot in the 20th minute, but George West put the home side in front not long after following a goalmouth scramble.

Reilly missed Boro’s best chance of the first half, fluffing his shot after being put clean through on goal.

Elliot Rokka then missed the chance to equalise in the 56th minute, hitting his tame penalty straight at keeper Chris Thompson.
