RADCLIFFE Borough were denied the second win of temporary boss Joe Gibbons' tenure after being pegged back in a 1-1 draw at Hyde United.

Daniel Burns put the Taurus Park outfit in front five minutes before the break but Lawrence Hunter levelled for the home side 13 minutes from time.

Boro made a good start and tested Hyde keeper Russell Saunders inside two minutes, Lamin Baldeh forcing him into a save with a header from a Stanislav Zhekov free kick.

The hosts responded with an effort of their own a minute later, but Peter Boyle skied his volley from six yards.

Elliot Rokka wasted Boro's best chance of the opening stages, spooning a volley over the bar in the 15th minute after Jack Hindle whipped in a good cross from the right.

Lassana Naltache did a good job in the middle of the park for Boro, closing out the attacking threat from the home side, although the visiting defence was tested by Craig Sutherland's pace.

After soaking up plenty of Hyde pressure, Radcliffe scored the opener on the break just before half time when Baldeh dispossessed a Hyde defender before picking out opposing winger Burns, who slotted home into the bottom corner.

Gibbons' men started lively in the second period as Rokka was again in the thick of the action for Boro, clipping the bar with an early effort from close range.

Boyle responded with a cross-shot that drifted over the head of Boro keeper Kyle Haslam but rebounded off the bar.

Haslam did his best to keep out the home side with a string of fine saves, the best of which saw him palm away a powerful left-footed drive from Sutherland just before the hour mark.

The hosts eventually found a way through in the 77th minute when left-back Hunter played a nice one-two on the edge of the area before curling an effort past the Boro stopper.

Leon Osbourne came close to winning it for the home side in time added on, but his close-range volley produced a fine finger-tip save from Haslam.

Boro remain fourth-bottom in Evo-Stik First Division North, 10 points above the drop zone.
