RADCLIFFE Borough got back to winning ways in style with a 3-0 win at home to Colwyn Bay.

The Boro had taken just one point from the previous five games but two goals from Lewis Reilly, added to Daniel Burns’ opener, saw them collect three points.

Joe Gibbons’ men showed their attacking intent right from the off, and did not have to wait long to open the scoring. In the second minute Burns scored after a breakaway and run by Jermaine Metz. He fed Burns, who rounded Kieran Wolland and tucked the ball home.

Reilly got in on the act 10 minutes later. After a miskick by Wolland, Reilly pulled off an acrobatic finish to make it 2-0.

Midway through the half Boro keeper Kris Leigh made a great point-blank save to deny Warren Bellew and was forced into action again moments later, making a diving save from Jamie Rainford’s shot.

Leigh would make more vital saves on his way to being named man-of-the- match as he kept Boro in control of the game.

The second half started slowly as both teams struggled to turn possession into chances and it was only when the visitors were denied a goal for offside in the 68th minute, that the game picked up.

Reilly went for glory from distance in the 71st minute, his shot bending away from the target. But he did not have to wait long for another attempt and made the most of it to score his second of the game.

Ten minutes from time, with Boro’s first shot on target of the half, he converted a wonderful strike from distance.

The visitors came close to a consolation in added time after Rainford had been played in, but his shot sliced wide.

Three days earlier, Boro had been outclassed by league leaders Farsley Celtic who were dominant at home to run out 4-0 winners.

Both teams went on the attack from the off and looked to surprise each other with quick counters.

Radcliffe had the first chance of the game when they broke at speed and and the ball was played inside to Jack Hindle, his shot forcing Graeme McKibbin to tip the ball over the bar.

The leaders showed their class to take the lead in the 24th minute after a Paul Walker cross deflected in off Lassana Nalatche.

The hosts added a second 10 minutes before half time, when Chris Howarth found the top corner with a header, Kyle Haslam given no chance.

And Celtic hit a third in the 42nd minute after the Boro defence failed to clear a corner and the ball fell for Adam Clayton, who tucked his chance home with ease.

Any chance of a comeback in the second half was dashed on the hour mark when Lewis Nightingale fired home number four.
