CARL Peers scored a last-minute equaliser at Skelmersdale United on Saturday to extend Radcliffe FC's unbeaten run in Evo-Stik North to five matches.

The late leveller rescued a deserved point for Boro and capped a flurry of four goals in the final 15 minutes as the game finished 3-3.

James Hooper opened the scoring for the visitors in the 12th minute, chipping the keeper after being played through on goal by a lovely pass from Mason Fallon.

Peers almost doubled Boro's advantage after rounding the Skelmersdale stopper, but he ran out of room and his shot from a tight angle was blocked at the near post.

After going into the break leading 1-0, Jon Macken's men were pegged back two minutes into the second half when Jack Fleming found space to get the ball past Radcliffe keeper Ryan Jones.

Boro regained the lead in the 75th minute when Kurt Sherlock came off the bench, returning from a 10-week injury lay-off to plant a clinical finish into the bottom corner.

If Macken was hoping his players would shut up shop and protect their lead, he will have been raging on the sidelines as Skelmersdale took advantage of defensive mistakes to respond with two quick goals.

Andy Owens was allowed a free run on goal and after sailing through the Radcliffe defence was hacked back in the penalty area, giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot.

Owens stepped up and confidently converted the penalty to put the home side back on level terms with 10 minutes remaining.

It took them another six minutes to edge in front after a through-ball caught out the Boro backline and Callum Mahoney tucked it away.

After dominating the majority of the match, Boro looked set to be leaving Skelmersdale empty-handed, but as the board went up for four minutes of added time Peers found space and time in the box to send an audacious chip up the keeper from 12 yards and into the top corner.

The late goal secured Boro's third draw in their last four league matches and left them 17th in Evo-Stik North.
