RADCLIFFE FC are working hard to give spectators the kind of football they want to see.

Jon Macken's side are struggling at the wrong end of Evo-Stik North but the message from all areas of the Neuven Stadium is the club is going through a transition.

Macken has made a rash of signings in the last five weeks after giving everyone in the squad a chance to show him what they can do.

It has led to the side needing to settle into their new surroundings, get to know how each other plays and what the manager requires from them on the field.

Attendances have been in the healthy region of around 200 for the last three home matches.

And while Boro are not kidding themselves a good number of those were away fans travelling to watch a local derby, they are striving to create the kind of football which will get more supporters wanting to watch them.

"The one thing you can guarantee is you are always going to see a good game of football," said ex-Manchester City striker Macken who took on his first managerial role at Boro in September.

"We are trying to get up the league and that's going to take time and the lads are going to have to believe."

Captain Kingsley Williams said Macken's philosophy of how he wants his team to play was one of the reasons he signed five weeks ago.

"I spoke to Jon and I liked what he was about and what he wants to do with the club," said the central midfielder who joined from Trafford.

"He wants to change things and get the team playing good football. He has brought some young players in who have ability.

"There's some great talent on show on that training ground and I'm sure that's going to show through at some stage.

"Hopefully when people talk about Radcliffe I want them to think of a good club, a well-run club and a team that plays good football.

"The fans are turning out and supporting us. We want that to continue and try to get more coming through the gate."

Boro remained second-bottom following last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Colwyn Bay and are hoping for another decent turnout at the Neuven this Saturday when they host a Goole AFC team who are eight points below them.
