Ramsbottom United could keep alive their chance of promotion from the Evo-Stik Division One North, if they avoid defeat against Bamber Bridge on Saturday.

The Harry Williams Riverside Stadium will play host to a huge game, with Bridge in fourth, one place above United in the table. A win for Rammy will see them leapfrog their opponents and face Warrington Town away in the play-offs, with a draw meaning they travel to Darlington 1883.

Joint-manager Bernard Morley said: “We’re just going to treat it like any other game, we’re approaching the game to win. It happened to us last year when we needed a point and didn’t achieve that, so I’m a little bit nervous.”

Morley added that he was not too fussed about who would lie ahead if they were to avoid defeat on Saturday, having already done the double over Darlington this season.

“The trip to Darlington obviously isn’t ideal, but we don’t fear anybody. We’ve beaten Warrington in the FA Trophy and there’s no pressure on us whatever happens. We’ve done well to get this far.

“We just want to get in the play-offs to be honest, it’s been up and down this season and we were not quite sure with recent performances, but the point on Saturday is all we need.”

Note: The Evo-Stik North play-offs take place next week, and Darlington have advised that police have insisted that their home game next Wednesday (April 30) must be all-ticket.

Dependant upon results this coming Saturday, three clubs could be their opponents on the night - Bamber Bridge, Lancaster City and Ramsbottom United.

Should the Rams turn out to be the visitors, then tickets for the match at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland, which has a capacity of just over 2,000, will be on sale at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium on Sunday, April 27 between 10am and 12 noon.

Prices are £9 adults, £6 concessions and £4 children.

If the Rams qualify on Saturday by beating Bamber Bridge, then their play-off game will be against Warrington Town, and take place at Cantilever Park, Warrington, on Tuesday, April 29 with a 7.45pm kick-off and admission by turnstile on the night.
