ACCRINGTON Stanley loan duo Reagan Ogle and Nathan Webb made an instant impact on their Ramsbottom United debuts as they both scored in a 4-0 win at Ossett Albion, writes Paul Cropper.

Gareth Seddon broke the deadlock from the penalty spot on 27 minutes, triggering a four-goal burst before the break in which Ogle and Webb opened their Rammy accounts.

Paul Lindwood rounded off the scoring on the stroke of half-time as Mark Fell's depleted side through injury bounced back from a 3-0 defeat at home to Colne the previous weekend.

The new arrivals, who have both signed four-week deals, did much to lift the gloom of that derby defeat, with Ogle helping to solidify the defence at full-back and Webb adding a creative spark from the wing.

At first glance, he rekindled memories of the great John Robertson, of Nottingham Forest fame – difficult to knock of the ball, tenacious and showing great feint of pass and movement, his performance on the day was immense.

He will come up against more resilient defensive units but took a big step to becoming an instant fans' favourite with his display.

Elsewhere, the Rams put out a new central midfield paring of Dean Stott and Bradley Roscoe.

The two full-backs took firm control of the middle of the pitch, playing sharp early balls wide and into front men Seddon and Ryan Salmon.

The Rammy strikers linked well on five minutes, when Salmon's lay-off found Seddon in the D and only a stupendous save by Brett Souter prevented the Rams taking a early lead.

That was the high point of the Ossett keeper's day.

It was a bit of a surprise that nearly a half hour passed before the visitors took the lead, but then three goals in 10 minutes, with Ossett reduced to 10 men in the middle of them, sent the visiting fans into delirium.

Webb started it, collecting the ball wide and then wriggling into the area before being upended, and Seddon bamboozled Souter in his run-up to roll in the resulting spot-kick.

Two minutes later Ogle popped up in the box to sweep Webb's cross into the top corner.

The third goal, and the one which effectively put Ossett out of the game, fell to the deserving Webb.

The Ossett defence terrorised by Salmon completely failed to clear a high ball into the box and the winger scuffed it into the net.

All that was left as the half came to an end was for the Ossett keeper to make a bit of a blooper, dropping an innocuous cross at the feet of Lindwood, who gratefully accepted the gift.

The Rams at first looked to continue where they left off at the start of the second half, Stott volleying just wide from the edge of the box and then Souter scrambling to keep out an Ollie Crankshaw shot.

But the visitors went into hibernation, and after Ossett were awarded a penalty for a push in the box it took a combination of the post and keeper Martin Fearon's head to clear the danger.

Rammy saw out the remainder of the game and go into Saturday's match at home to Brighouse 13th in Evo-Stik First Division North, now just seven points outside the play-offs.
