A PITCH inspection is scheduled to take place at Gigg Lane at 11.30am tomorrow as Bury seek an early decision on Saturday's match at home to Stevenage.

The ground is already thought to be frozen in places, despite frost covers being in place, and heavy snow has been predicted for later in the day.

Bury want no repeat of late postponements earlier in the season, when a League One match at home to Carlisle and a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Preston had to be cancelled an hour before kick-off due to waterlogged pitches.

On each occasion, the club was forced to reimburse their opponents' travel expenses and had to pay for policing, even though the matches never took place.

With Bury's well-documented financial problems, the directors will want a prompt decision from the match officials before Stevenage are due to embark on their journey up north tomorrow lunchtime.
