BURY have signed Bournemouth defender Stephane Zubar on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old, who can play on the right or centre of defence, will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Shrewsbury.

Shakers manager Kevin Blackwell believes Zubar, younger brother of Wolves player Ronald, will add much-needed steel to the defence.

“He’s been there, done it, bought the T-shirt,” said Blackwell. “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s quick. We’ve got to try and stop the stupid goals going in.”

The Guadeloupe international moved to England in 2010, when he signed for Plymouth, where he went on to make 33 appearance.

He moved to Bournemouth on a free transfer in August 2011 and has played 22 times for the South Coast side.
