DANIEL Nardiello believes on-loan full-back Chris Hussey would be a fantastic asset for the club if manager David Flitcroft does manage to sign him up after profiting from his pin-point delivery in the Plymouth rout.

The club’s top scorer bagged his 10th and 11th goals of the campaign in the Good Friday’s 4-0 victory, firing home a penalty before converting a sublime Hussey cross for his second.

“Chris’s delivery is absolutely brilliant,” said Nardiello of the 25-year-old Burton Albion defender.

“He’s put it on a plate for me. All I had to do was head it.

“I went over and thanked him for the ball because it is nice when you get them. He’s been fantastic since he’s come in and it would be nice if we could get him to stay.”

Nardiello also believes the JD Stadium could make an ideal home for front man Danny Rose, who scored his third goal for the club on Friday before this week being recalled to parent club Barnsley.

The 20-year-old has only recently signed a new contract with the Tykes, but his more experienced strike partner, also a former Barnsley player, believes a deal could still be done.

“Barnsley have got a great player there, a young lad coming through, but you never know what can happen in football,” said Nardiello.

Regardless of who Flitcroft manages to tempt to the JD Stadium over the summer, Nardiello believes the current squad is capable of competing for honours next season.

Bury have only tasted defeat five times in 25 games since the manager took over in December, and, despite Monday’s disappointment at York, are finishing the campaign strongly.

Sadly, Nardiello is suspended for the final two games, but is confident Bury can carry on their good form.

“Since the gaffer has come in we have come a long way,” he said.

“We are playing really good football, creating lots of chances and keeping a lot of clean sheets. You can’t argue with the way we’re playing at the moment.

“Obviously, the gaffer will want to do things in the summer to get all his players in, but with those we are playing now – the starting 11 and subs – we have got a great squad.”
