RYAN Lowe has made a dramatic return to Gigg Lane, signing a two-year deal with the Shakers.
The fans favourite netted 53 goals in 97 appearances between 2009 and 2011, including the winner at Chesterfield that memorably earned promotion to League One.
In his previous spell he also broke a 53-year-old club record by scoring in eight consecutive games.
Lowe, now 35, scored 20 goals for Tranmere Rovers last season despite the Birkenhead club dropping through the relegation trapdoor in League One.
He has also played for Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons since leaving the Shakers first time around.
