BURY came from behind to claim a second consecutive home win despite - as in their last match against Plymouth - ending the match with only 10 men.

Unlike in their previous game, when substitute Danny Nardiello limped off after manager David Flitcroft had made all his substitutions, this time referee Kevin Wright had a part to play, sending off captain Jim McNulty in the 71st minute for a second bookable offence.

But the scoreline mirrored last weekend's victory as goals from Danny Rose and Danny Mayor cancelled out a Kal Naismith opener.

Naismith, who Bury had been linked with earlier in the transfer window, put the visitors in front on 19 minutes, cutting in from the right before curling a shot in off the far post.

Rose, who the Shakers eventually plumped for after having a £20,000 offer for Naismith turned down by Accrington, was then in action at both ends, having a header saved by Stanley keeper Joe Lumley before clearing a deflected Will Hatfield effort off the Shakers’ line.

But it wasn’t long before the 21-year-old stretched his scoring record to four in four games since joining from Barnsley, slotting home a pass from fellow former Tyke Kelvin Etuhu in the 35th minute.

Accrington remained a threat, however, with Naismith at the heart of everything. The 22-year-old former Rangers player hit the woodwork with a 30-yard free-kick before his attempted lob, following up a blocked shot from James Gray, was headed off the line by Bury centre-back Pablo Mills.

Flitcroft tightened things up after the break, reverting to a flat back four after replacing "wing-forward" Tom Soares with left-back Chris Hussey.

McNulty picked up his first booking in the 54th minute after a clumsy challenge on Gray before Mayor produced a wonder strike to put Bury ahead on 62 minutes, curling the ball into the top corner from 25 yards.

The Shakers captain was then forced to leave the field after hauling down Hatfield on the half-way line as the Stanley striker looked set to run in behind the Bury defence.

But the depleted side showed the same spirit that helped earn a first home win of the campaign against Argyle last weekend to double their points tally at the JD Stadium and move into sixth place in the League Two table.
