IT would be fitting if Ryan Lowe could reach 200 career goals in front of the Bury fans this weekend.

Sometimes players just feel at home at a club and Ryan has certainly developed an affinity with the Shakers fans in his two spells at the club.

Of course, it helps if you happen to score the winning goal that secures promotion, and I am sure that day at Chesterfield will live long in the memories of every supporter that was there.

But Lowey's relationship with the club's fans goes much deeper than that.

And it is a two-way thing. He clearly loves playing his football at Gigg Lane, you could see that from the way he seized his opportunity to return last season and I know that second promotion meant a lot to him.

You have to wonder, with Ryan's contract running out at the end of the campaign, how many games he will have left at Bury to reach his landmark.

But you can bet that he will be going all out to do if in a Shakers shirt, preferably in front of the Gigg Lane faithful.

If he does that it will be richly deserved. I know Lowey never made it all the way up to the Premiership, but reaching 200 goals is an impressive achievement at any level and I will have my fingers crossed that he makes it.

I also hope that his time at Gigg Lane does not end with his current contract.

He has shown, since coming back from injury, that he still has a lot to offer the club.

It would be a bit much, at 37, to expect Lowe to play every game, but he can still weigh in with a goal or two, and normally when it's most needed.

I also understand he is keen to go into management, so you would hope he can extend his stay at the club, even if it is in a coaching role.
