BURY have signed former Blackburn, Doncaster and Norwich striker Chris Brown on a one-year deal.

The 31-year-old front man has scored 69 goals in 386 appearances during a career that started at Sunderland as a trainee in 2003.

After scoring 10 goals while on loan at hometown Doncaster, he was thrust into the Black Cats' first team, scoring another seven in his first full season at the Stadium of Light.

A serious knee injury hampered his progress but Brown eventually secured a £325,000 move to Norwich in 2007.

He only spent a year at Carrow Road but went on to enjoy a decent spell at Preston and later returned to Doncaster, where he scored 19 goals in 87 appearances.

Brown failed to score in 41 appearances for Blackburn after signing a two-year deal with Rovers in June, 2014 and he was released at the end of last season.

Shakers boss David Flitcroft has handed him the number nine shirt, made vacant by Leon Clarke's departure to Sheffield United.

The striker has an option to extend his one-year deal by another 12 months, should it prove a success.
