BURY took an early lead in front of the TV cameras at Peterborough before shipping three goals to slip to a third straight defeat.

Former Shakers loanee Hayden White turned the ball into his own net, but Chris Forrester netted an equaliser for Posh late in the first half.

Marcus Maddison added a second soon after the restart and Bury centre-back Antony Kay compounded the misery minutes later with an unfortunate own goal.

David Flitcroft made three changes from the side that lost to league leaders Scunthorpe last weekend.

Duo Jacob Mellis and Tom Soares were both suspended so Kelvin Etuhu came in at the heart of the midfield.

The Shakers were also handed a timely boost as winger Danny Mayor and striker James Vaughan recovered from their respective ankle and knee injuries, meaning Hallam Hope dropped to the bench.

Peterborough defender White turned past his own goalkeeper inside two minutes after Zeli Ismail beat his full-back down the right and drilled a low cross into the penalty area.

Two minutes later left-back Greg Leigh burst down the left and crossed for Vaughan who had a snapshot saved by the legs of Luke McGee.

Bury's bright start came to a halt when forward Tom Pope went off injured and had to be replaced by Hope.

The Posh began to grow into the game as the half wore on with Maddison and Forrester both going close.

Peterborough almost equaliser in the 32nd minute when Coulthirst headed against the outside of the post from six yards.

But the hosts eventually levelled seven minutes later when, after a deep cross from the right, Forrester played an intricate one-two with Maddison before blasting past Ben Williams.

Leo Da Silva Lopes showed neat footwork in the penalty area on the stroke of half time but he shot over as the sides went into the break level.

The Posh carried their first half momentum into the second period and took the lead three minutes after the restart as Maddison found space in the area and slotted the ball past Williams.

Four minutes later Nichols chased down the ball on the left flank and sent a hopeful cross into the Bury penalty area which Kay unfortunately turned past his own goalkeeper via the crossbar.

The Shakers had a couple of half chances late on as Hope and Ismail were both denied by McGee, but the Posh held out for a vital three points to relieve the pressure on manager Grant McCann.
