LEE Clark’s arrival has given a “kick” to the Bury squad ahead of their trip to Charlton this weekend, according to midfielder Andrew Tutte.

The new boss led his side to a 2-1 victory at Chesterfield in his first game in charge, with Tutte scoring a stunning equaliser which was voted League One goal of the weekend by the EFL.

And the 26-year-old says confidence is well and truly flowing following the arrival of the former Kilmarnock manager.

“We have only had a couple of days with him but it’s given a kick to the lads and hopefully we can stay up now,” Tutte said. “We can kick on from here. We have got seven points from nine. I think we are getting confident now.

“Every game’s a cup final. We have got to take it game by game and focus on Charlton, not the games ahead.

“We have shown that we can go away from home and get three points. We can beat anyone in this league when we are on blow.”

Tutte has only recently returned to first-team action after spending two months sidelined with a groin problem.

The injury has limited the Liverpudlian to 15 appearances this term but he is excited to be back playing now he has fully recovered.

“It’s been a frustrating time for me this season,” Tutte explained.” It’s nice to get back on the pitch and enjoy my football.

“I feel good. I have just got to get my lungs going again now.”

In Tutte’s absence 16-year-old Callum Styles has been flourishing in the centre of the Shakers midfield.

The victory over the Spireites was only the second time the duo had played together in the middle of the park and after a dazzling display from the bench, the former Manchester City youngster is backing his team-mate for a big future.

“I have just said to him he is a joy to play with,” Tutte said. “Every time you are on and make an angle he gives you the ball. I have never seen a kid so young with such calmness on the ball.

“He can go anywhere. He has shown against Chesterfield he is so confident and he is 16 years of age and is only going to get better.”
