POINTS mean prizes for both Bury and Bolton at the Macron tomorrow night.

The Shakers will end a 19-year wait to visit Wanderers in the league – but the game will have much more than just bragging rights riding on the outcome.

While a win for the Whites could clinch promotion if Fleetwood, Bradford and Scunthorpe drop points today, Clark’s side could be in the relegation zone come kick off.

Defeat against Rochdale last Thursday, coupled with their relegation rivals picking up decent results on Friday and Saturday, left them just a point above the drop zone.

Wins for Port Vale or Swindon today would see them fall into the bottom four, meaning Clark would be happy to sacrifice performance levels for points.

But Bury have picked up just one point from their five derby matches so far this season.

And the Shakers boss is challenging his side to end a run of three straight defeats by repaying the faithful Shakers supporters.

“I know when you’re playing derby matches the result is the be all and end all,” said Clark.

“It’s not about performances it’s about results.

“We need to manage the games better. I hope it’s not a confidence thing because we can’t afford it to be. We have got to get rid of the shackles of tension and go and play and win games. Nobody is going to help us, we have to help ourselves.

“The fans were superb on Thursday so we have to try and give them something to cheer about.”

The atmosphere is expected to be at fever pitch inside the Macron tomorrow night, with so much riding on the outcome of the match for both sides.

But Clark says his side must try to forget their own problems and take advantage of the nerves of their hosts.

“It’s a huge game for both clubs,” he said.

“The league table doesn’t lie, they are one of the best teams in the league. Phil (Parkinson) has done a magnificent job so the pressure will be on them as well.

“It will be a great game.

“The fixtures have been very favourable for us with having a four-day break between games. Hopefully we can take advantage of that.”
