THE caption on the back of this picture, which featured in our Memory Lane feature on February 2, only had the name of the Wigan attacker Andy Lyons and the date of the match – October 9, 1993 – at Gigg Lane.
Super fan Amanda Freeman picked out everyone in the line-up but failed to identify the goalkeeper, but our friend James Bentley has kindly filled in the blank.
The Bury players are, from the left, Chris Lucketti, Michael Jackson, Roger Stanislaus and keeper Lee Bracey. Bury won the game 3-0 following goals from Tony Kelly, Ronnie Mauge and Tony Rigby. Former Bury stopper Simon Farnworth was the unfortunate Latics keeper charged with picking the ball out of the net on what was a rare good day for the Shakers in the 1993/94 season in the old Division Three.
