BURY boss Lee Clark says more signings are imminent after completing a triple swoop this week.

Striker Jermaine Beckford and full-back Phil Edwards both signed two-year contracts with the Shakers over the weekend after being released by Preston and Burton, respectively.

And former Bury midfielder Stephen Dawson penned a three-year deal on Tuesday.

“We are working on deals as we speak,” Clark told Bury Times.

“We have got a few more in different stages of negotiation so we’re hopeful that in the coming days and weeks we will have more signings to confirm to our supporters.

“The transfer business we have done so far goes back to what we said at the end of the season – we want to improve the group.

“Not every signing will be a signing who has experienced promotion from this league, like Stephen, Phil and Jermaine have all done, but that’s one of the areas we’ve looked at – bringing in players who have achieved that.

“I want to put together a squad that will potentially be challenging at the top. I say potentially, there are going to be numerous other clubs thinking along the same lines.”

Clark has also held meetings with some of his fringe players to discuss their futures at the club, agreeing to release them from their contracts without demanding a transfer fee if other clubs can offer them regular football.

He said: “I have had conversations with one or two players who are under contract who could potentially move on if a move materialises.”
