LEE Clark is set to bolster his defence with the signing of Blackpool captain Tom Aldred on a two-year deal.

The centre-back, who was out of contract, rejected an offer of a new deal at Bloomfield Road to join the Shakers.

It will be the second time the duo have linked up after Clark took Aldred to Blackpool from Accrington Stanley when he was boss in 2015.

The 26-year-old has since become a fans’ favourite with the Seasiders, making 103 appearances, and captained them to League Two play-off success last season, beating Exeter 2-1 in the Wembley showpiece final.

The Bolton-born defender underwent a medical yesterday and his arrival at Gigg Lane is expected to be confirmed once the final details of his contract are ironed out, but he should be available for selection when Bury host Sunderland tomorrow night.
