BURY have been drawn in Group C along with Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale for the first round of the coming season's Checkatrade Trophy.

The group looks to be one of the toughest in the northern section, with all three teams in League One.

The competition pits together clubs from Leagues One and Two, as well as a selection of under-21 teams from invited Premier League and Championships clubs.

They are yet to be drawn, with Bury set to face one of Everton, Leicester City, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Stoke City, Sunderland or West Bromwich Albion.

Shakers fans will have to wait until Wednesday to find out the fourth and final team in their group.

A statement from the EFL said: "EFL clubs have been placed into their respective groups in order to minimise overall travel for the clubs and fans following feedback.

"This process will be reviewed at the end of the season."

The group stage fixtures will also be confirmed next Wednesday, with invited under-21 teams to play all group games away from home.
