Bury sank deeper into relegation danger on Saturday when they went down 2-0 at home to Fleetwood Town.
The latest setback left them five points adrift at the bottom of League One, 11 points from safety.
Goals from Ashley Hunter on 24 minutes and Devante Cole two minutes into the second half sentenced the Shakers to their fourth straight league defeat, and extended their number of league games without scoring to five.
Chris Lucketti's men were slightly unfortunate to be trailing at half time, but after Cole struck they never looked like avoiding defeat.
The Shakers went close early on through Andrew Tutte and Jay O'Shea before mid-table Fleetwood's Cian Bolger headed wide.
The Cod Army went in front shortly after as George Glendon beat left-back Greg Leigh and his cut-back was deflected towards Hunter, who fired low past Leo Fasan.
Bury replied with Callum Reilly's 25-yard shot forcing Chris Neal to tip over while Stephen Dawson also tested the visiting keeper.
And just after the interval, a hopeful ball over the top caught Fasan stranded and Cole dinked the ball over the Bury keeper.
Cole then glanced a header wide and Bury almost gave themselves hope late on as Craig Jones' low shot was parried by Neal before fellow substitute Chris Maguire volleyed wide.
