Full time: Bury 1 Portsmouth 0
BURY made it three games undefeated since being relegated with a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth on Saturday.
A goal by George Miller after 67 minutes was enough to separate the sides at Gigg Lane.
The win against the ninth-placed side in League One followed morale-boosting draws at Shrewsbury Town and Doncaster Rovers in the previous two games.
Caretaker manager Ryan Lowe said of Miller: "I know he can and will get better. He puts a shift in and the goal was just reward for that.
"It was a good win, we set out to put in a performance for the fans and get a win.
"I was worried before the game because of the height in Portsmouth's team but we defended well through the game.
"It's been tough for everyone associated with the club, and for the fans too but we will look to the future and to provide stability."
