FUNDRAISERS are encouraging people across the borough to form a special link with the new Bury Hospice.
A massive paper chain is being created to celebrate the handover of the site in Rochdale Old Road, Bury, from builders Seddons to the hospice’s board of trustees. Ian Jenkins, the hospice’s fundraising and lottery manager, said: “We get the keys to the new hospice on December 17 so this will be our early Christmas present to the borough.
“To strengthen the bond we have with the community, we are going to decorate the building with a long festive paper chain to be cut on handover and we are asking everybody to provide a link in the paper chain that will go right around the new site before it is ceremonially cut on the day.”
Links on the chain are large enough for people to put their name and a message. They cost 50p each and will go to the £100,000 cost of moving o the new hospice. For details on where to get the links, telephone the fundraising office on 0161 797 174.
