Catwalk treat for shoppers
4:21pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in Bury
PEOPLE with a “passion for fashion” flocked to the Mill Gate centre for a major charity event.
Thanks to the sterling efforts of 10 members of staff from the town’s BHS and Dorothy Perkins stores, £410 was raised for Breast Cancer Care.
The employees came together in a vacant unit in the shopping complex to stage a fashion show to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Staff from the two shops acted as catwalk models, displaying and wearing outfits from their individual stores. Visitors were also able to enjoy nail art, face painting and cakes. Debbie Parfitt, from Dorothy Perkins, said: “The fashion show was really good, and we are pleased with the amount of money we raised for Breast Cancer Care.”
Pete Barber, Mill Gate centre manager, said: “The BHS Dorothy Perkins staff worked really hard to put together a great fundraising event. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an important camp-aign and we hope that this event will encourage Bury women of all ages to become breast aware.
“We’re proud to support the fund-raising work of our retailers and community groups in centre which has raised just under £6,000 so far this year for a huge variety of charitable organisations.”
