BURY’S search for their first points of the League Two season continues after losing a fractious encounter at the Kassam Stadium.
Tom Soares looked to have earned the Shakers at least a point after his 70th-minute strike from close range cancelled out Danny Rose’s first half free-kick.
But Johnny Mullins stole in to claim all three points for the home side five minutes from time, firing home a low David Hunt free-kick with a first time shot on the run.
And any chance of a Bury riposte was dealt an immediate blow after Nathan Cameron was sent off straight after the goal - picking up a second yellow for dissent as Oxford celebrated their winner.
