BURY opened their League Two account as debut goals from Anton Forrester, Jordan Sinnott and Marlon Jackson saw off a committed Accrington side.

James Beattie’s Stanley outfit were hampered by a 33rd-minute red card for Danny Webber, by which time they were already chasing the game.

Blackburn loan striker Forrester finished off a well-worked free-kick in the 28th-minute to open the scoring, sliding in at the back post after a chipped ball over the defence from Sinnott caught the Stanley back-line napping following a quick free-kick by Craig Jones.

Sinnott – a 19-year-old midfielder from Huddersfield Town – then showed great composure on the ball to fire home the second before the break.

Steady rain made conditions difficult for the players and the referee, who showed a flurry of cards as both sides let fly with some sliding challenges.

That undoubtedly led to Webber’s straight red as the normally mild-mannered striker caught Shaun Beeley with what looked a wild challenge.

But there was no obvious collision that led to a serious injury to Nicky Hunt in the second half, the former Bolton Wanderers full-back going down clutching his right knee after an innocuous challenge on Forrester.

That took the stuffing out of the game, and Bury, who were under the kosh up to Hunt’s injury, picked off their Lancashire rivals in the 87th-minute with a breakaway goal finished well by summer signing Jackson.
