BURY moved back into the League Two play-off places after an Andrew Tutte goal 15 minutes from time ended the brave resistance of basement club Hartlepool.

The central midfielder was on hand at the back post to turn in Danny Mayor’s low cross from close range and seal back-to-back wins for the Shakers.

Tutte had looked the most likely to score for David Flitcroft’s promotion chasers after forcing Pool keeper Scott Flinders into two diving saves in the second half with shots from distance.

The first half had been a closer contest.

Bury keeper Nick Pope stood up well to block a Marvin Morgan shot in only the third minute, while Flinders got his body behind an effort from Nicky Adams at the other end following a sublime threaded pass from Tutte.

Danny Rose was harshly booked in the 54th minute after going down in the box under a clumsy challenge from David Mirfin.

But as Bury cranked up the possession the pressure finally told, with Tutte’s fourth goal of the season proving enough to move them above Newport County into seventh place.
