BURY returned to winning ways thanks to a first-half own goal from Mansfield defender Ryan Tafazolli.

The big centre-back had the final touch after Chris Hussey’s inswinging corner was helped towards goal by Shakers skipper Nathan Cameron.

On-loan striker Tom Eaves had a goal disallowed for offside just before half time after the 23-year-old Bolton Wanderers front man volleyed home a Nicky Adams cross at the back post on his debut.

In a game of few chances, Bury keeper Nick Pope had little to do but had to be on his toes in the 66th minute to block a Reggie Lambe shot following a Vadaine Oliver pull back.

It was enough to earn the on-loan Charlton stopper a fourth clean sheet in five matches and help Bury bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at home to Oxford.

The three points saw them move up to fifth in the League Two table and reduce the gap to the automatic promotion place to just four points.
