WIGAN Athletic captain Craig Morgan drilled in a 90th-minute equaliser to end 10-man Bury’s six-match winning run in League One.

The visitors came from two goals down with five minutes to play after headers from Nathan Cameron and Tom Pope had put the Shakers into a commanding position.

But a second yellow card for Bury full-back Chris Hussey 13 minutes from time changed the game.

Captain Cameron headed into his own net under pressure from Grant Holt on 85 minutes.

And the visitors rescued a point as an attempted clearance broke to Morgan on the edge of the box and he curled his shot into the bottom corner, past the despairing dive of Rob Lainton in the Bury goal.

Shakers’ assistant manager Ben Futcher and Wigan goalkeeping coach Mike Pollitt were sent to the stands in the closing stages after the pair tussled for the ball in the technical area.

And unused Bury substitute Hallam Hope was shown a yellow card – one of seven brandished by referee Graham Salisbury during the game – after tangling with Max Power on the sidelines as the Wigan midfielder, who was also booked, attempted to get the ball back in play.

The dramatic ending could have been worse for Bury after Lainton pulled off a dramatic one-handed save to deny Chris McCann from close range and then turned a Tim Chow shot on to his near post at the death before Peter Clarke cleared off the line.

It was tough to take for Bury boss David Flitcroft, who clearly believed the referee's performance had denied his side the chance to move level on points with League One leaders Walsall and Burton Albion.

The draw saw Bury fall one place in the table to fourth.

REACTION

Bury manager David Flitcroft said: "Without a shadow of a doubt (the sending off changed the game).

"For 70 minutes they didn't lay a glove on us. It was passing for passing's sake at times.

"But then there was a real verve about them (Wigan) when Huss got sent off.

"There was an impact to what they did then and they started threatening the goal with Grant Holt on.

"But we dug in and that's what pleases me.

"They are disappointed. I have got a team there that are on the floor because they felt that they had done more than enough to win a football match."
