ANDREW Tutte claimed a hat-trick as Bury bounced back from 2-0 down to put five past 10-man Colchester United.

Chris Porter and Gavin Massey gave the visitors a well-deserved lead before centre-back Tom Eastman was sent off midway through the first half.

Ryan Lowe pulled one back before Kane Vincent-Young looked to have turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Andrew Tutte, who was credited with the goal.

The Bury midfielder went on to bag another two goals, either side of one from winger Craig Jones, as the Shakers ran riot to wrap up their second win in a week.

David Flitcroft kept faith with the same side that defeated Sheffield United in midweek which saw Leon Clarke and Lowe spearhead the attack.

Danny Rose provided a welcome boost to the substitutes' bench as he continues his recovery from a back problem.

Without a win in over four months, the visitors shocked the hosts by taking an early lead.

Only four minutes were on the clock when Massey drove down the right channel and cut the ball back to Porter, who slotted in the opener.

Referee Mark Brown had a big decision to make in the 15th minute when last defender Tom Eastman dragged Leon Clarke down, but as the forward was running out wide the official decided a yellow card would suffice.

Two minutes later Leon Clarke raced through on goal following Peter Clarke's marauding run, but Lowe collided with his strike partner as he was about to pull the trigger.

Colchester launched a counter-attack after the let-off and doubled their lead.

Massey made his way into the Bury box unchallenged before rounding goalkeeper Ian Lawlor and tapping the ball into the empty goal.

Frankie Kent came close to making it three when he looped Darren Ambrose's corner towards goal but Lawlor made a fantastic finger-tip save to turn it around the post.

Jones gave Elliot Parish his first test of the afternoon from an acute angle when he headed Tutte's deep cross straight at the goalkeeper.

The game-changing moment arrived in the 33rd minute when Eastman picked up his second yellow card for a foul on Lowe down the right-hand side.

The resulting free-kick was whipped into the box by Tutte and Lowe stooped down low to head the ball in off the post.

Bury pressed for the equaliser before half time but couldn't penetrate a resilient Colchester back line.

Flitcroft made a managerial master-stroke at the break by using all three of his changes to bring on Chris Hussey, Reece Brown and Tom Pope for Danny Pugh, Tom Soares and Leon Clarke.

Five minutes after the restart Lowe burst down the right and drilled the ball across goal. His effort appeared to be turned in by Vincent-Young under pressure by Tutte, who wheeled away claiming the goal.

The Manchester City academy graduate definitely secured the next goal for himself to put his side ahead in the 52nd minute.

The midfielder picked up the ball on the right and fired a fierce deflected shot which beat Parish at his near post.

Jones made it four four minutes later when Pope headed Brown's cross into his path and he turned the ball over the line from close range.

Tutte claimed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute when Hussey's free-kick fell to him on the edge of the box and he drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.

Bury were content with their three-goal advantage as the game petered out with neither side creating any further chances.
