BURY have made a double swoop ahead of tomorrow’s League One match at home to Portsmouth.

Former Crystal Palace midfielder Tom Soares, aged 26, has signed for the Gigg Lane outfit on non-contract terms, while 19-year-old Wolves defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell has been brought in on a month-long loan deal.

Soares has been training with the Shakers over the past month in a bid to prove his fitness after picking up a hamstring injury during an initial trial.

The midfielder has been without a club since being released by Stoke in the summer. He made just 12 appearances for the Potters after making a £1.25million move to the Britannia Stadium from Palace in 2008.

While Soares could be a long-term prospect, if he can resurrect the form that saw him score 12 goals in 162 appearances for the Eagles, Ebanks-Landell is only expected to offer short-term cover.

The Black Country defender joined Wolves in 2001 and has played at every age level at the club but is yet to make his first-team debut. His temporary deal at Gigg Lane runs until January 3.

Both players will be available for selection for tomorrow's visit of Portsmouth.
