4:54pm

F/T: Bury 1 Southend 1

4:52pm

90- Timlin and then Corr hit the woodwork for Southend

4:46pm

85 - Sebastian Carole on for Troy Hewitt

4:38pm

78 - Barry Corr on for David Martin

4:38pm

76 - A Hewitt shot is deflected just wide, but the Bury striker would have done well to leave Gregg Wylde's pull-back as he had team-mates running in in a better position to bury the cross.

4:33pm

71 – Bury come under a sustained spell of pressure, but Southend fail to create a scoring a opportunity.

72 – At the other end, Smith gets down well to his right to hold on to a low, bobbling Wylde shot.

4:28pm

65 – Smith can only parry Wylde’s fiercely struck 30-yard strike, with Creswell covering to head the rebound behind for a corner.

Kevan Hurst then has an effort blocked at the other end and Micahel Timlim skies a shot over the bard from the resulting corner.

67 – Southend sub – Elliot Benyon replaces Freddy Eastwood

4:24pm

63 - Matt Doherty hits the side-netting with a neat strike from inside the Southend box, The Bury right-back had ventured forward from the back, sharing passes with winger Gregg Wylde.

4:17pm

57 – Sweeney curls the resulting free-kick straight at Smith.

4:16pm

56 - Mark Phillips is booked for a foul on Lenell John-Lewis as the Bury striker races towards the Southend box.

4:12pm

51 - Tomlin hits a weak bobbling shot straight at Carson from just inside the Bury box.

4:09pm

48 – Great instinctive finger-tip save from Paul Smith denies an acrobatic Troy Hewitt volley from close range.

4:07pm

46 - David Martin has the first chance of the second half, firing a 25-yard shot just wide.

4:05pm

K/O: Bury get the second half under way with no changes to either side...

3:49pm

H/T: Bury 1 Southend 1

3:47pm

43 – David Worrall is booked for a sliding challenge on Marc Laird.

3:43pm

41 - GOAL - Bury 1 SOUTHEND 1 - Gavin Tomlin made a mockery of Bury's defence to put the Shrimpers back level with a virtuoso goal. The young Southend striker went past two Shakers defenders after taking the ball to the byline before beating Carson at his near post with a low driven shot.

3:35pm

32 - GOAL - BURY 1 Southend 0 - Matt Doherty strokes home from the spot, sending Southend keeper Paul Smith the wrong way - rolling it right footed into the left-hand corner. Referee Andy Haines had a choice of two possible fouls, with both Lenell John-Lewis and then Troy Hewitt barged down in the box, by Ryan Cresswell and Sean Clohessy respectively, as they went to head home David Worrall's cross from the right wing.

3:29pm

27 - John-Lewis just fails to connect with a Hewitt flick on following a dinked cross from David Worrall on the right. The Shakers striker only needed to stretch out a leg and he would probably have found the back of the net, but the ball came to him too quickly at the back post.

3:27pm

25 – Carson does well to get his body behind a speculative Freddie Eastwood effort from 30 yards, which bounces just in front of the Bury keeper.

3:25pm

22 - Lenell John-Lewis takes out Southend centre-back Mark Phillips with a full swing of his right boot. It was an honest challenge, with the Bury striker fully concentrated on volleying Hewitt's cross from the right, only for Phillips to get their first. The Shrimpers defender gets up eventually, but he will have felt the knock on a bitterly cold afternoon at Gigg Lane.

3:20pm

17 - Gregg Wylde's first real act in a Bury shirt is a vicious driven cross from the left wing, midway into the Southend half, which Troy Hewitt just fails to get on the end of despite a despairing sliding lunge.

3:16pm

15 – Gavin Tomlin fires a 30-yard shot wide, with Bury keeper Trevor Carson never troubled.

3:15pm

Both sides are struggling to get the ball under control on a hard frosty pitch, but Southend have had the more telling possession, with Marc Laird just wasting a chance to shoot - choosing instead to aim a wayward pass back out wide after being sent through the middle by Kevan Hurst.

3:09pm

7 - Ryan Cresswell heads the first chance of the game wide from a corner.

3:02pm

K/O: Southend get the tie underway...

2:40pm

Gregg Wylde is thrown into the Bury side for his Gigg Lane debut after joining the Shakers on a month's loan from Bolton Wanderers.

Fellow loan signing Tom Hopper misses out after his parent club, Leicester, refused to give the striker permission to play in the FA Cup.

So in comes Lenell John-Lewis up front alongside Troy Hewitt as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Bury go into the game light on attacking choices, with both David Healy and Andy Bishop still missing through injury.

French winger Sebastian Carole has made it onto the bench though after signing non-contract terms this week.

Once again a defensive blunder has cost us in a match.

How many more times is Ethan - Landell going to be selected ahead of Sodje?.

I accept that Southend United were on a good run and this match was always going to be a test.

Now the poor long suffering fans will have to make a fruitless trek all the way to Essex for the replay.

It doesn't look like we will be getting that dream draw in round 3 if we can't beat this league 2 outfit on our own patch.

I think the gaffer needs to select a settled side and dispense with the services of players who aren't going to make it at this level.

A huge squad overhaul is needed hopefully in January if we can move on players that aren't required at our club.

Now it's back to the league aside from the Mickey Mouse cup in midweek.

The support again today was disappointing, don't think the locals were up for the cup like at other venues today.

Agree about Ebanks-Landel eileen, that's three games and three goals he's given away now,the lad may well become a good player in time, but he's currently not strong enough and can't hold opponents off.Efe hasn't done himself any favours with his disciplinary record this season, but by continuing to replace him with such an accident prone player Blackwell is cutting off his nose to spite his face.Leaving Ebanks out would also enable all the other loan players to be included for the league games which would give us more attacking options.

Agreed, but at the end of the day Kevin has brought the lad in to a do a job which for the main part he's doing apart from these gross lapses of concentration which is killing us.
We will have to live with it until such time as we have our reinforcements back.

Easy do you really think we have an earthling of a chance of winning down at Roots Hall?.

It's a good draw against Bradford or Brentford if we win down there.

Like the manager says, the last thing we needed was a replay on a tuesday night.

Our focus must remain getting out of the bottom four now.

We have enough games in December as it is.
