LEEDS United midfielder Zac Thompson has extended his loan deal at Gigg Lane until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old central-midfielder joins Leicester striker Tom Hopper, who last week extended his loan deal with Bury until the end of the current campaign, while Wanderers winger Gregg Wylde and QPR striker Troy Hewitt have been signed up until January 22.

The club confirmed last week that their other two loan players, Wolves defenders Matt Doherty and Ethan Ebanks-Landell, had returned to Molineux.

Thompson’s signature should conclude Bury’s permitted transfer dealings in the current window.

Bury are currently operating under a transfer embargo, but the Football League has allowed them to extend the registration of players loaned to the club before the embargo was imposed in December.

They won't be allowed to add to their squad further until a loan the club took out from the PFA is repaid.

Despite the ruling, the Shakers have confirmed that striker Shaun Harrad and midfielder Marcus Marshall, who were on loan at Cheltenham and Grimsby respectively, would stay out until the end of the season.

Max Harrop, however, has returned from Hinkley United, while reserve goalkeeper Cameron Belford has extended his stay at Accrington Stanley for another week.
