Shakers youth hit by cup sucker punch
BURY’S youth team ended a three-match unbeaten streak with defeat in the Youth Alliance Cup last weekend.
The young Shakers were edged out 1-0 at home to Lincoln City.
It was a bitter pill to swallow after Bury enjoyed the bulk of the chances, but could not finish any off.
Navid Nasseri had the best effort, hitting the post in the 63rd minute. But despite breaking through the Lincoln back line at will, the Shakers’ final ball proved to be the problem.
And their only defensive lapse of the match was punished in the second half when a loose goal-kick fell to a Lincoln forward.
The game also marked the return from injury of promising development squad player Regan Walker.
