Team news

It's a new year and a fresh start for Bury, who welcome back club captain Craig Jones on to the bench and two new recruits into the starting line-up.

Defenders James Burke and Frederic Veseli arrives from Huddersfield and Ipswich, respectively, replacing Gareth Roberts and Dean Howell in the team.

Roberts drops down to the bench while Howell returns to parent club Fleetwood Town after a pretty successful second spell at Bury.

He helped the side to end 2013 with a win - the first under new manager David Flitcroft.

And the Shakers will hope to continue their recent improvement in results and performances at Victoria Park today.

Bury enjoyed a 1-0 victory against Colin Cooper's side at the JD Stadium in November, but were soundly beaten 2-0 at Victoria Park last season, when both sides were relegated from League One.

Hartlepool have adapted to life in League Two with a little more success than Bury, sitting in 13th in the table with 31 points from 23 games, while Flitcroft's men are 20th, with 24 points from the same number of matches, just two points outside the relegation places.

Certainly was a superb team effort and what about that defense? I got home around 10.15pm last night and was still very excited! Gaffer has his finger on the pulse of this team and we are going to be fine. His tactics are working and more importantly the team is responding.

What happened with Nards?? Supposed to go back over the hill after the game in Hartlepool. How we managed to sign up.

This was a welcome performance which really made me feel excited to be a Bury fc fan not a supporter there is a difference.

Yes i can see a shape to this new way of playing and it will bring it's rewards. We blew Pools away in the first 20 minutes, they didn't expect that kind of strong start from us and won't have done their homework over christmas.

I think their manager will get a lot of grief for that,he should have sent one of his backroom staff to watch us when their team was winning at Morecambe.

I think Edgy might be on his way out of the club now that we have signed Pablo Mills up as another Centre half.

If he did send one then they couldn't have learnt an awful lot from our win against York City.
