Summary

  • Bury 2 (Hope 3, Soares 79)
  • Bristol Rovers (Mohamed 45+1)

9:39pm

Bury 2 Bristol Rovers 1

9:29pm

85 - SUB - Gillespie on for Clarke.

9:27pm

81 - SUB - Procter on for Hope.

82 - SUB - Santos on for Parkes.

9:25pm

79 - GOAL - BURY 2 Bristol Rovers 1 - Tom Soares loses his marker to glance home a header from Chris Hussey's corner.

9:22pm

78 - SUB - Soares on for Tutte.

9:15pm

71 - SUB - Rose on for Jones.

9:12pm

67 - Hope's cross is just too deep after the loan striker managed to find some space in the Rovers box.

9:08pm

63 - Smith's appeal for a penalty is turned down after his cross goes behind off Hussey's arm. It was hit hard at him from a yard so there was little the Bury defender could do about it.

9:05pm

Attendance: 2,314 (179 visiting).

9:04pm

59 - Michael Smith flashed a 25-yard shot across goal.

8:58pm

54 - Brown's dragged cross is diverted goalwards by Harold but his effort goes wide of the far post.

8:54pm

Smith pulls back a long ball to the far post but Jensen cuts out his centre.

8:52pm

It looks like Kaid Mohamed is claiming the Rovers equaliser. It seems Clarke's shot hit the striker on the way through a crowded box and the he is claiming it.

8:50pm

8:49pm

45 - SUB - Clucas on for Woodards

8:34pm

45+2 - Jensen pulls out a top-drawer save to deny Harold, diving low to his left to stop the Rovers striker's header on the line.

8:33pm

45+1 - GOAL - Bury 1 BRISTOL ROVERS 1 - Ollie Clarke's shot from the edge of the box is deflected past Jensen into the Bury goal. The Shakers stopper had it covered but was left rooted to the spot as the ball bounced into the far corner.

8:30pm

44 - O'Toole's shot from six yards is blocked by Jensen and Mohamed puts the rebound over. The double chance came from a slip in the box by McNulty.

8:26pm

Brown set-piece sails all the way out.

8:26pm

40 - Lockyer shot is deflected wide for a corner.

8:16pm

29- Powerful run takes Hope to the byline but his pull-back to an unmarked Nardiello is just cut out.

30 - Nardiello fires over a powerful strike from 25 yards.

8:10pm

22 - Mills climbs well but just fails to get over his header from a Hussey corner.

23 - Mohamed shut goes across goal, just wide.

24 - Tutte's 25-year strike whistles past the far post.

8:05pm

19 - Clarke's shot on the turn in the box is blocked by McNulty.

8:03pm

16 - Smith's dangerous ball into the Bury box is cleared behind by McNulty under pressure from Clarke. Jensen punches the resulting corner clear.

7:58pm

12 - Jensen dives at the feat of Harold top deny the Rovers striker after the ball landed to him following a spot of head tennis in the box.

7:48pm

2 - GOAL - BURY 1 Bristol Rovers 0 - Hallam Hope thundered home a half-volley from the right corner of the box after controlling a knockdown on his thigh. It is the Everton loan signing's second debut goal in a week, scoring on his first home start after bagging his first goal in his first match for the Shakers at Northampton on Saturday.

7:46pm

7:18pm

Team news

Everton loan striker Hallam Hope retains his place in the starting line-up to make his home debut at the JD Stadium tonight as manager David Flitcroft understandably sticks with the team that won 3-0 at Northampton Town on Saturday.

That victory - the Shakers' first in eight matches - moved them seven points clear of the League Two drop zone.

If Bury make it back-to-back wins in tonight's match in hand over their rivals they will jump up to 12th in the table and open up what would surely be an unassailable gap over the relegation places.

7:02pm

Full line-ups

BURY: Jensen; Veseli, Mills, McNulty, Hussey; Jones, Tutte, Sedgwick, Mayor; Hope, Nardiello.

Subs: Hinds, Procter, Soares, Rose, Platt, Charles-Cook, Obadeyi.

BRISTOL ROVERS: Mildenhall; Woodards, Parkes, McChrystal; Smith, Clarke, Lockyer, O'Toole, Brown; Harold, Mohamed.

Subs: Clarkson, Gillespie, Harrison, Harding, Gough, Clucas, Santos.

Great result lads! Looking forward to finishing strongly and then with optimism for next season. It's been a roller coaster ride but we should all have every confidence in the gaffer. A great appointment and the board should be commended. Game on for Saturday!

May I take a bow and not be considered a gloater ? lol.

SAFE BY APRIL 1----I any of my disagree friends with talk of "relegation fight" etc...I told thee!!

Superb gutting performance lads and well done Boss. Dare, just dare we believe that we can make a dark run? I am so happy tonight and filled with respect for the club and a special thanks to our Board.

One other matter, the reason we shot up the league is not only due to the points the team has amassed, but that resolute and solid defense and all the awards should be sent to the Gaffer and his staff and the players.

Chuffed is not the word.....!!

Yes well done Easy, you were right all along (just wish i had your confidence fella).....but we were still in a relegation fight upto last weekend.lol

Hallam Hope is our new Clarke-Harris, let's see if we can get him on a season long loan new year.....he looked pretty good last night, as did Nardiello....that kind of work-rate is what we need from him, great effort from the front 2. Good to see that sort of enthusiasm from Rose when he came on too, good in the air and a willing runner/chaser......n
ot bad for some one who looks 12 and 6 stone wet through.lol

We really did have to dig deep and be resolute last night, as Bristol started the 2nd half brightly but the boys stood strong at the back and stuck to the task......how good is Pablo Mills for us??
Did you notice the way Bristol played was exactly how we play with Platt in the team, long hopefully punts upfield to the big man......not pretty to watch and not all that effective. We coped ok with it last night, just as teams had done to us lately. That tactic is a last 15 minutes one, not one to be used from the start.

One word of praise last night has to be for Jensen, that save in 1st half injury time from Harolds header really was world class....and i mean world class, looking back it probably won us the game.

Anyway, well played to all concerned, i'm willing to bet Flickers and the Board are already planning our assault on the League for next year.

Onwards and upwards.
UTS!!!!!!

ps. Ex-Pat.....it's all about opinion and we're all entitled to them.

Yes well done Easy !! and everyone else on here." i would like to see Mr Day give Flikkers a longer contract with a buy out clause which will cost any club that wants our manager a lot of money !!! that way we won1t be in the same position as last season when Barker up sticks and went 3 days before the season started .
Jenson deserves another contract and that save last night was very much like the Gordon Banks save from Pele.
the back lads look brill and we really ought to sign Hussey before someone else pinches him . again like all of us on here well done to everyone at the club and our fans i know we can be a bit stressed at times but that is because we care !!
we have all had it rough for the past 2 years but boy i can`t wait for next season !!

Now i agree you're being a bit silly there Eileen.
Northampton (like us) are fighting for their lives, as are Bristol Rovers, what makes you think these 2 games were going to be easy?
These 2 games were real 6-pointers and we came through both with flying colours....in the grand scheme of things they were superb victories for us.

At times we can criticize when they play bad (and i've done my fair share), but we also have to acknowledge their efforts when we play well and win very important games.....credit where credit's due i think the saying is.

Fair enough but I don't think the lads had to break sweat in our last couple of games, the two new players introduced made all the difference, defence is great but goals are still at a premium.well done to the supporters all 2300 of them that turned up last night.

some very good points made within this post. Now that consolidation has been achieved we need to build on with contracts and look forward to getting out this horrible league. I say we firm up our assets and add within the summer and go for the league champions next year.
David has done a terrific job, some may say hard nosed but I say where there is strength and unwavering determination will come success!!
Thanks, I am glad I was right.....I just believed.

Cheers Shaken, I just believed that David would do it. You are right about Jensen, what top class Saves. I say if he wants it, give him another season. What I would like to emphasize is our DEFENSE which allows us to shoot up the league. With such a superb GD, we are always going to win matches and go upwards.
The credit on this has to go down to David. No questions. I say this has been his greatest success!! Pablo is superb and a far cry from the mickey mouse defense KB out together.
Other than the 4-0 loss at C-field, we have been superb.

Let's down Exeter and go give Scunny something to think about on their promo push!!

Were you one of the boo boys giving our players grief on Tuesday evening in th second half ExPat?,

People talk about my negativity but i have never booed any Bury fc player in over 3 decades of following them,it's very disappointing..

No wonder so many of our recent mangers were hounded out of the club and DF might be no different.

People talk about my negativity but i have never booed any Bury fc player in over 3 decades of following them,it's very disappointing..

No wonder so many of our recent mangers were hounded out of the club and DF might be no different.
More Rubbish.
