LEAGUE One side Crawley Town have signed former Bury fans’ favourite Brian Jensen.

The 38-year-old stopper, who kept 16 clean sheets in 39 appearances for the Shakers last season, won both the Bury Times and Bury FC player of the season awards.

But he failed to earn a new contract from Bury manager David Flitcroft, and Crawley boss John Gregory was more than happy to snap him up on a one-year deal.

"Brian is still a superb goalkeeper who is in fantastic physical condition," Reds boss Gregory told the BBC.

"He is a real presence in the penalty area and a character who will be great in the dressing room."

Gregory said the Dane will also assume some coaching responsibilities at the club.

"He is keen to carry on the coaching work he started last season at Bury but first and foremost he wants to carry on playing," the 60-year-old said.

"I have spoken to a lot of managers and people in the game about Brian and without exception they have all spoken very highly of him. We're delighted to have him with us."
